The Small Cap Handbook Method
This book provides a no nonsense approach to the specific realities of investing in smaller listed companies.
Topics covered include:
Specific opportunity sets to focus on within small caps
Some key risks that pertain to (often not well acknowledged) for small cap investors
Discussion of misconceptions regarding important small cap related topics
Additional commentary relevant to large caps, mid caps and emerging markets
Blue prints on where to get started in terms of looking for ideas and portfolio construction
What the book is not:
How to get rich quick or some magic formula for success
An argument in favour of small caps as an ‘asset class’
A replacement for other fundamental books on investing rather it is a compliment to such material (irrespective of investing style)
The book is the result of a long professional career investing in small cap stocks, hoping others can benefit from the costly mistakes learnt along the way, including those with an international focus. It is intended as a ‘handbook’ for the diligent investor to refer back to, whenever relevant.
Intended audience is both private investors and institutional investors (be it in their day job or personal capacity).
Arrash Zafari is a career investment professional, having focused on a myriad of stock markets around the world, always having had a keen interest in small cap stocks and the investment opportunity they presented to diligent investors. This was demonstrated with over a decade managing multiple institutional investment funds active within the small cap space, with a peer beating track record. Having spent 20 years honing this skill, combined with decades travelling around the world to meet and analyse (and often invest in) such companies, he is well placed to provide unique insights for the curious and diligent investor. The approach he advocates is focused on the bottom up, but relevant for all schools of fundamental stock pickers. Outside of investing, he has a keen interest in wildlife, natural history, poker and foreign affairs.
